Hello, Weekend of Fire Ticket Holders!

The temperatures are dropping outside, but things are as hot as ever at Jungle Jim’s. The 2015 Weekend of Fire is upon us! So if you’re like us, despite the chill, you can feel the sizzle in the air. We’re excited about this year’s Fiery Foods Festival, and we know you are, too! All of the things you loved about our previous Weekends of Fire, plus a few surprises, will be there in full, feverish force. It just keeps getting better!

What to be on the lookout for:

On Saturday, October 3, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Sunday, October 4, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Jungle Jim’s is the Hottest Ticket in Town as the 9th annual Weekend of Fire takes over the Oscar Event Center in Fairfield for two blistering days of intense heat and boisterous activities. With 55 vendors setting up shop and hundreds of samples available, you can try before you buy, share a few choice picks, and find some new favorites. Just keep in mind that while most vendors will be able to accept credit cards as payment, it’s good to have some cash on hand just in case.

In addition to all of the spicy sauces, snacks, and candies available, those of age will be able to purchase a wristband for $16, which lets you sample from the wide variety of alcoholic beverages available (not to mention the complimentary glass)! For those who might only want a drink or two, though, fear not. There will be a cash bar open and ready to serve you.

We’ll have ice cream from Graeter’s available for purchase to help you cool down, and the great hot sauce equalizer, good old fashioned milk, will be on hand to bring down the temperature and calm those taste buds.

Enter the Arena of Fire… If You Dare!

Jungle Jim’s Weekend of Fire wouldn’t be complete without our annual Arena of Fire spicy foods competition, and this year we’ve got some doozies. Sure to inflict both pleasure and pain, we’re featuring some challenges this year including our Screamin’ Hot Cherry Pie eating contest, a “hot” chocolate and candy eating contest, and a spicy Hellfire cold deli sandwich eating contest. It all caps off with the Feast of Fire, which features several of the items from the weekend’s contests.

We’re especially excited for Puckerbutt’s Wing King contest. With this contest, challenger’s are going for a record breaking wing eating session, with wings featuring sauce made from the Carolina Reaper, the world’s hottest pepper. We’ll be recording this competition for submission to the Guinness Book of World Records, so we know this is going to be a big deal!

Cast Your Vote for the WOFI Awards

A favorite every year, the WOFI Awards are back. Cast your vote for all your festival favorites. We’ll tally ‘em up and award the favorites in the following categories on Sunday, before the Weekend of Fire closes.

  • Best Hot Sauce
  • Best BBQ Sauce
  • Best Salsa
  • Best Hot Specialty

A Little Something Extra:

To commemorate the event, there will be Weekend of Fire tee shirts available for purchase for $12, so you can show off your love of all things hot year ‘round. We’ll have two designs this year, and they’re both awesome. It’s going be difficult to pick just one!

We’ll keep things moving with a DJ on Saturday, who will be on the terrace playing all of the best hot, spicy, and fire-related jams they can find, so don’t be surprised if you see some smokin’ heels around the show floor. We will also have a stilt walker, face painter, and balloon twister both days! It’ll be a serious Carnivale Caliente!

So you can remember the weekend in all of it’s spicy glory, there will be a photo booth set up for you to snap a free shot mid-revelry - just stop by, snap your photo and pick your background, and the rest will get taken care of.

Purchasing early gives you the chance to buy an early admission ticket, so you can beat the crowds and make sure you’re the first to get your fingers on what’s available. Early admission tickets are limited, though and it is 21 and over for this portion of the show. This is the lowest ticket prices will be, and the festival is guaranteed to sell out before doors open, so purchasing your tickets early is the best way to make sure you’re able to join us for all of the fun and festivities.

Reminders:

This is a two day festival, so you will need a separate ticket for each day. You must be 21 years or older to purchase alcohol, and a valid ID is required. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Ages 5-12 must have a child's ticket. Children 4 and under are free. Tickets are non-refundable.

Safety:

Tips to Beat the Heat: We know that sometimes the excitement of the weekend can make us feel a bit braver than normal, so we understand when the heat can get to be a little too much. The culprit, in this case, is Capsaicin, the source of all of a pepper’s heat. Unfortunately, it doesn’t dissolve in water, so no matter how much you drink, or how cold the water is, it won’t alleviate the pain. If you find that you need help cooling things down, grab some milk, which we’ll have available throughout the show. But if milk isn’t your thing, alcohol does a fine job of cutting through the capsaicin and dissolving it. We’ll have a wristband for $16 that comes with a special cup and unlimited access to beers set up at the event. The cash bar will be open, as well!

Parking:

Please park in the Oscar Event parking lot located near UDF and Route 4. Parking for all Junglefests is free.

We'll See You There!

We encourage everyone to stay safe and use a designated driver or to call a taxi if necessary. We’ll have a list of taxi services available at the event for your convenience.
