Bluetooth
Please check if you can see Bluetooth icon from shelf bar. And check Bluetooth is turned on.
Search Bluetooth devices with clicking pair new device.
Please check if you can see Bluetooth devices.
Troubleshooting
- You can check connectable Bluetooth devices type from 'Connect to Bluetooth devices'.
WiFi
Please check if you can see WiFi icon from shelf bar. And check WiFi is turned on.
Please check if you can see AP list.

Fingerprint Sensor(FPS) (supported model only)
To use fingerprint sensor, your Chromebook has FPS(fingerprint sensor). You can test FPS with following step.
- At the bottom right corner of your screen, select the time.
- Select Settings
.
- Under “Security and Privacy,” select Lock screen and sign-in.
- Enter your Chromebook password and select Confirm.
- Under “Edit Fingerprints,” select Set up.
- Select Add Fingerprint and scan your finger with the fingerprint sensor.
To get a better scan, make sure the sides of your finger also contact the sensor.
After you get the “Fingerprint added” message, you can:
- Select Add another to set up another fingerprint.
- Select Done to finish.

Display Brightness
You can adjust display brightness level from shelf bar.
Display Backlight On/Off
Before you check backlight on/off, please disable suspend by lid. Settings -> Device ->
Power.
Before you close lid, please disable “Sleep when lid is closed”.
- Disable “Sleep when lid is closed”.
- Close lid.
- Wait several seconds.
- Open lid.
- Check if backlight turn on.
- Re-enable “Sleep when lid is closed”.
Troubleshooting
- Before you close lid, please disconnect external monitors to avoid going dock mode.
Keyboard Backlight/ALS (supported model only)
- Make keyboard brighter to max(Alt + ) so that you can check backlight behavior easily.
- Place you hand on ALS lens. In general, it is located in the upper left corner of the keyboard.
- Check backlight turn on when you press keyboard.
- After check you, please restart system to make brightness level to default.
Troubleshooting
- Chrome OS Keyboard Backlight Behavior
- If Keyboard backlight didn’t work as you expected, please try to do it again after reboot.
Accelerometer/ Gyro Sensor (supported model only)
To verify accelerometer and gyro sensor, make sure screen rotation in tablet mode.
Troubleshooting
- To read raw data from sensors(gyro, accelerometer, ambient sensor) with android application. (ex: Physics Toolbox Sensor Suite)
- Please verify if you enabled “Auto-rotate”.
Type-C Port
To verify type-c port fully, you need type-c dongle. If you don’t have dongle, you can verify port with storage, external display and charger into port directly. Inspect the Type-C port for any physical damage.
- Connect HDMI(external display), USB storage and charger to type-c dongle.
- Verify if you can access storage from file manager.
- Verify if you can see external display.
- Verify if battery icon is fully charged or charging
Troubleshooting
- If device didn’t work, please try to reconnect devices including charger.
- If device didn’t work, please try to reconnect dongle.
- If there are charging problem, please check charger.
- If your Chromebook has multiple type-c ports, please verify ports one by one.
Power LED
You can check system and charging state from power LED.
- BLUE : Power on (Normal operation)
- GREEN : Fully charged
- RED : Charging
- Blinking RED : No Battery / Pre-charging
SIM Card / Modem (supported model only)
- Before you check SIM Card, please power off system and then make sure if you insert SIM Card.
- Power on device
- Settings -> Network -> Mobile Data
- To show detail information, please click icon.
- Check ICCID and IMEI
Troubleshooting
- If there is no SIM Card or IMEI, please turn on the power and check again about 5 minutes later.
- If there is no ICCID, please check SIM card.
microSD Card
- If Chromebook recognizes external storages, you can see devices from file manager.
- Please click eject button before you remove microSD card.
Troubleshooting
USB Port(Type-A) (supported model only)
You can connect storage, mouse, keyboard, etc to the USB port. When you connect storage, you can see device in file manager.
In case of input devices, you can check it with typing and moving.

Ambient Sensor for Display (supported model only)
- Place your hand on ambient sensor. Ambient sensor is located near the camera.
- Please verify if brightness goes low level.
- Turn on your cell phone flashlight app and light up ambient light sensor.
- Please verify if brightness goes high level.
Troubleshooting
- To read raw data from sensors(gyro, accelerometer, ambient sensor) with android application. (ex: Physics Toolbox Sensor Suite)
- If you adjust brightness by manual, you have to restart system before you test. Design document
- Verify there is no any dust on ambient light sensor lens.
