00:00 hello everyone I am here ready to talk 00:03 are you ready to learn 00:08 let's get oriented first and foremost 00:11 let's talk about what's going on in the 00:14 little window you got here there are a 00:16 few tabs for you to look at char char 00:19 how are you there is a chat box what you 00:22 can type in all sorts of wonderful notes 00:25 to me thanks for all the love I'm 00:27 getting thank you if you want to ask a 00:30 question there's a questions tab you can 00:32 click on that ask a nice little question 00:34 there is a poll that I would like you 00:37 all to fill out if you use CBD or not 00:40 and 00:42 you can see who else is here look at all 00:44 these people that have already shown up 00:46 and we it's just six o'clock Oh sir 00:49 you're gonna have to put your pants on 00:51 I'm just kidding I can't see you guys 00:53 you can only see me 00:55 yeah great this is awesome a little note 00:59 the technology's probably gonna break 01:02 and we're gonna lose you know this feed 01:04 I'm sure because that's the kind of luck 01:06 I have if we get through it we'll 01:08 celebrate I think that everything should 01:10 be good it's snowy and cold here in 01:12 Woodstock and I'm super excited to be 01:15 able to do a webinar for everybody out 01:17 there we're gonna talk about CBD of 01:19 course I figured I would give it maybe a 01:22 minute or two more as people come in and 01:25 drips and drabs I'm gonna turn off some 01:28 stuff so that way I don't get 01:31 interrupted by anybody I could just 01:34 focus on you guys any questions for me 01:39 before we get started everybody I see 01:41 there's one do you think CBD could 01:43 influence a simple ovarian cyst I'm 01:45 thinking of inflammation 01:47 it's a great question and I'm gonna say 01:50 I don't know I don't think that I have a 01:55 good answer for that and I think that we 01:58 should probably talk a little bit more 01:59 about what's going on but hopefully the 02:01 lecturer here today will help you 02:02 understand all of this stuff really well 02:05 so everybody can hear me if you can hear 02:07 me say yes in the chatbox and then the 02:12 other thing that I'd like to know is 02:14 where is everybody from there's a lot of 02:16 people from Woodstock but they think 02:17 there's people from other places so feel 02:20 free to type in where you're coming from 02:23 look at this boom boom boom look at all 02:29 the fun that we're having Oh somebody's 02:31 from Florida of course snowy and cold 02:35 all right 02:38 well without further ado I guess we can 02:41 get started with this fondness that we 02:44 call CBD let's make sure that our thing 02:48 works here well here it goes 02:52 all right I'm gonna share my screen and 02:55 you're gonna see the president 02:59 entitled CB dues and CB don'ts alright 03:10 how are we doing everybody with me yeah 03:13 okay so here we go 03:15 CB dues and CB don'ts first things first 03:19 we got some housekeeping this is a 03:22 really cool software service that we're 03:23 using so it allows you to rewatch this 03:25 at any time you'll just follow the same 03:27 link and you'll be able to see this 03:28 video all over again so be careful what 03:30 you say because people can see that too 03:31 don't say anything rude or or dirty 03:34 because we don't want your name attached 03:36 to that the slides I'm gonna post these 03:38 tomorrow so you don't have to worry 03:39 about writing these down or do it can I 03:41 get a copy emailing me I'll post them 03:43 automatically if anything comes up where 03:45 I want to create something for you to 03:47 download I'll put it right at the same 03:48 page if you have questions feel free to 03:51 go nuts I agree that it this is gonna be 03:55 more fun than a rant because I'm going 03:57 to try to get through 40 minutes without 03:59 swearing once so you know we'll see how 04:01 that works out 04:02 we have a poll over there if you take C 04:04 beat or not I'd like to know how many 04:05 people are using CBD and in typical Neil 04:09 fashion I wrote too much I wrote too 04:11 much stuff and I think that we have a 04:13 lot to cover so I'm gonna be speeding 04:15 through all of this if you don't know 04:17 who I am 04:18 I am a pharmacist and I have a practice 04:20 here in Woodstock I'm a holistic 04:21 pharmacist so basically I focus on 04:24 lifestyle modifications diet exercise 04:27 stress management along with supplements 04:29 and nutritional products and then 04:32 finally looking at medications but 04:33 including medications in this whole 04:35 thing to optimize somebody's wellness so 04:38 you can read all this at another time 04:39 when you download the slides one of the 04:41 things I always like to say is that I'm 04:43 not an expert I'm not the person 04:45 involved in CBD research I'm not the 04:47 purse the scientist that's studying the 04:49 actual results I'm not submitting case 04:52 studies and all of that stuff I am just 04:54 your translator I am the person reading 04:56 the available evidence and giving it to 04:59 you in the best fashion that I know how 05:01 and more importantly though I'm an 05:03 advocate for you so especially with CBD 05:06 I feel like there's so much 05:08 misinformation and so on 05:10 many problems with the products on the 05:11 market that I really have to step up the 05:14 advocate game here so mostly though I'm 05:17 just a bigmouth professional it gets a 05:19 little crazy and asked some tough 05:20 questions and as evident by that picture 05:23 and the lighting in here it has a 05:25 receding hairline are there supplements 05:27 for that alright so this is an important 05:29 disclaimer that I have to include of 05:31 course anything that you say here here 05:36 that I say is not real it's not been 05:38 evaluated by the FDA so don't stop any 05:41 medications don't start new therapies 05:43 without talking to a real medical expert 05:45 that is in your circle if you want me to 05:47 be that then yes we can have a 05:49 consultation and we can talk more to 05:50 determine what your individual case may 05:53 require but this is not blanket advice 05:56 that everybody should follow without 05:57 first talking to your own professional 06:00 my responsibility here is to be 06:03 responsible so there's going to be no 06:05 outrageous claims no craziness just real 06:07 practical advice around products and 06:09 what the current evidence shows so CBD 06:12 in my opinion is something that can 06:14 simple systems and in my practice as 06:16 well as friends and all over the country 06:18 you've heard it there's been so much 06:21 positive feedback and in my personal 06:23 opinion we need a path forward from the 06:25 Wild West of today to a more responsible 06:27 tomorrow around all cannabis products 06:31 especially the fun stuff which will of 06:33 course allude to because I have a very 06:35 low maturity level all right so CBD a 06:39 natural product that definitely has 06:42 value to many we need great products and 06:45 informed users today we're gonna cover 06:47 what CBD is we're going to talk about 06:49 the legality we're gonna understand the 06:51 numbers we're gonna develop a strategy 06:53 to use CBD successfully and then we'll 06:56 teach you how to use find a great 06:57 product all without getting ripped off 06:59 and one important thing to note is that 07:01 this video is evergreen it's gonna 07:03 always be out there so I'm not gonna 07:04 mention a single product I'll have 07:06 pictures of products mostly ones that I 07:08 don't like just to kind of show how 07:09 silly it is but I won't mention the 07:12 brands that I currently recommend 07:13 because my thought is is everything 07:15 changes especially in this industry so 07:17 at the end very end end we will talk 07:20 about the products that we have and what 07:22 I reckon 07:23 currently but that will not be part of 07:24 the main presentation so CBD CB CB don't 07:30 get mad if you heard and me say any of 07:32 this before because I am a bit of a 07:34 broken record and I will repeat myself 07:36 so a lot of my analogies I just really 07:38 like to use over and over again so when 07:41 we talk about CBD it's all bright and 07:42 cheery but I need to get a little bit 07:44 dark because it's a serious thing the 07:47 industry is a hot mess it's a new thing 07:50 it's a so it causes a big learning gap 07:53 for patients and practitioners I 07:55 actually just spend a half an hour today 07:56 talking to a vet's office who are very 07:58 gun-shy about using this in their 08:00 animals because of the legality and the 08:02 concerns about products so there's a lot 08:04 for us to learn before we can use this 08:06 responsibly it's untested so if you look 08:10 at the collection of evidence and the 08:12 peer-reviewed 08:12 I guess meta-analysis they'll say that 08:14 there's not a lot of edit solid clinical 08:17 recommendations what we do have is a lot 08:20 of anecdotes a lot of stories of people 08:22 saying that it works really well so we 08:24 don't really know on a grand scale if 08:26 this is all just a fluke or if it really 08:28 works my hint and it probably works but 08:30 right now it's it's pretty untested and 08:32 it's legally ambiguous so it's sold 08:35 everywhere but it's literally illegal 08:38 you you cannot debate that fact CBD 08:41 supplements and CBD and food is illegal 08:44 the next thing is like the product 08:46 standards are crazy my analogy you 08:48 probably heard it before if you look to 08:50 the left we see four different types of 08:52 Tylenol and that's it there are four 08:54 doses of tylenol there's tylenol regular 08:56 strength extra strength arthritis and 08:57 the liquid that's it every store that 09:00 you go to every generic product will fit 09:02 into one of those categories and on the 09:03 right is all different concentration and 09:06 doses of CBD products and that's not 09:09 even the half of it so it's pretty crazy 09:12 how much variability is out there for a 09:16 consumer how would you know where to 09:17 start or what to do right they use 09:20 numbers that aren't important so anybody 09:22 that's looked at a CBD product and I 09:24 think I've got one here Boop I'm gonna 09:26 cover that up but it says 1500 09:28 milligrams on the front of it what does 09:29 that even mean it does that represent 09:31 the strength and the hint is is that it 09:33 doesn't the descriptors aren't real so 09:36 they 09:36 basically the the labels will say hemp 09:41 oil or they'll say Fido cannabinoids is 09:43 that means CBD or does that mean other 09:46 stuff so there's again confusion and 09:49 labeling our business we have eight 09:52 different options all of do Isis and in 09:56 my case they're all great there are good 09:58 brands that we vetted thoroughly and 09:59 they're consistent with the quality but 10:02 that's super rare quality programs for 10:04 manufacturers are inconsistent and in 10:06 many cases does not even exist and they 10:08 don't even happen retailers are clueless 10:10 most of them are just looking to cash in 10:12 here man they're just this is a gold 10:14 rush and everybody is rushing for the 10:17 gold 10:19 so this grandmother here in this picture 10:20 she looks like she's experienced she 10:22 looks like she's been around the block 10:24 but most people don't understand that 10:26 they're getting ripped off right so most 10:28 people have never bought drugs before 10:30 right nobody's bought CBD before so 10:33 imagine trying to buy a bag of weed for 10:35 the first time at age 60 or something 10:37 like that there's probably a good chance 10:38 that you won't know what a good value is 10:41 or what to pay but uh approximately 10:43 forty to sixty bucks sounds good 10:45 manufacturers know this and they will 10:47 price the product not based on what it 10:49 should be but what the market will bear 10:51 so it's really important to kind of have 10:54 that advantage going to the table so 10:55 that way you don't get ripped off and 10:58 because of all of this 10:59 my general consensus is that most retail 11:01 shops are not qualified to sell CBD and 11:03 many manufacturers aren't qualified to 11:05 make the stuff out of the dark into the 11:10 light 11:10 CBD though is very very promising 11:13 imagine a day when we do know all about 11:15 it right so we have somebody that wants 11:17 to use CBD to support their anxiety and 11:19 they're taking xanax and they don't like 11:21 the idea that xanax a valium and all 11:23 those things have all of these 11:24 dependency issues and potential 11:26 withdrawal symptoms and they're sick of 11:27 taking ambien and how it makes them feel 11:29 imagine that with the help of a doctor 11:32 and somebody like me we can switch 11:33 somebody from that stuff to something a 11:36 little bit more natural like CBD I think 11:39 that that time is coming and I think 11:40 that there's an opportunity for this but 11:43 of course all things have liability is 11:45 especially CBD based on what I currently 11:48 I'm reading here is that the liabilities 11:50 CBDR a lot less than a lot of the things 11:53 that are used right now so this might be 11:55 the next step in our treatment of a lot 12:00 of common conditions for that the 12:02 American public are suffering from so CB 12:05 do proceed but do so with caution like 12:09 how I'm looping and all that that CB do 12:11 see we don't right alright so let's get 12:14 started here what is CB d and will you 12:17 get wasted very important questions to 12:19 ask so this is a cannabis plant of which 12:23 there's about 80 active pharmaceutical 12:25 compounds in there the two big famous 12:27 ones are THC and CBD THC being what I 12:30 call the awesome one which induces 12:32 giggles and the high and but if don't 12:35 let anybody tell you any any other thing 12:37 it is a gateway drug it's a gateway 12:38 directly to very dangerous things like 12:41 M&Ms; Ding Dongs and French fries so it 12:43 does increase your appetite and it makes 12:45 you want to eat it gives you the giggles 12:47 some people would prefer the CBD portion 12:51 right the chill one the relaxation the 12:53 comment strains like indica you may have 12:56 heard that before are called in the 12:58 couch because they're higher in CBD so 13:00 you're more relaxed in fact indica has 13:03 been shown to increase the gravitational 13:05 pull of couches so this is a more 13:09 scientific professional version CB d 13:12 stands for cannabidiol I'll let you read 13:14 that another point because I am neither 13:16 scientific nor professional so let's 13:18 keep moving CB do know the difference 13:20 between THC and CBD and the first thing 13:23 that you see be do you do need to know 13:25 is CBD won't get you high literally the 13:28 first thing that everybody says when we 13:30 start talking about CBD is some sort of 13:32 crazy story about the time that they 13:35 smoked pot right CB don't share your 13:38 weed war stories I've heard them alright 13:40 so I can't smoke pot it makes me anxious 13:42 yeah you and 30% of the population 13:44 literally getting a an anxious effect 13:48 and a panic effect from the thing that's 13:50 supposed to calm you yes I know that 13:52 that happens I don't do drugs I'm not 13:54 telling you to do drugs I'm telling you 13:55 to take CBD I haven't smoked pot since 13:57 the 30s well that was a long long time 13:59 ago and I took two hits off a joint when 14:01 I was 12 right all of these stories come 14:03 up and even 14:04 the most famous one I didn't inhale 14:06 right so we don't have to share your war 14:08 stories because marijuana and hemp are 14:10 two different things 14:11 CBD products come from hemp not 14:13 marijuana they're it's two sides of the 14:16 same coin right cannabis sativa is the 14:18 plant and the they're just different 14:20 species marijuana is higher in the THC 14:22 component than it is in CBD where the 14:25 industrial hemp is almost entirely CBD 14:27 with less than 0.3 percent THC and 14:30 that's an important number to remember 14:31 that that 0.3% the that's the the legal 14:35 limit of THC that can be in any CBD 14:37 based product hemp is also used for its 14:40 fibrous nature textiles and rope 14:43 manufacturing so hemp is this really 14:45 great plant super useful in a lot of 14:46 different industries so I came up with a 14:48 way for you to remember the difference 14:50 between marihuana and hemp and this is 14:52 gonna be famous someday so make sure 14:53 that you remember that you were here and 14:55 heard it first right so marijuana is 14:57 dope hemp is rope so you tell people not 15:03 dope just rope and you can hashtag that 15:07 out that's gonna be internet famous 15:08 thanks to Woodstock vitamins all right 15:10 so remember that hemp verses CBD this 15:13 comes up so what's the difference 15:14 between hamp and CBD well here's a great 15:17 analogy that I've beaten to death 15:18 oranges you squeeze them you get orange 15:21 juice inside of orange juice you've get 15:24 vitamin C the same kind of a 15:26 relationship happens with hemp so hemp 15:28 is the the plant you squeeze out all the 15:30 goodness you get hemp oil and within 15:33 hemp oil is CBD so you can actually get 15:36 hemp oil that has had all the CBD 15:38 removed from it so you won't actually 15:40 have any active CBD in that hemp oil so 15:43 you can just have bunk stuff so that's 15:45 an important thing to know is that even 15:47 though you might be buying hemp oil 15:48 doesn't mean that there's any 15:49 concentration of CBD so what does CBD do 15:53 to us hang on a second I got a question 15:56 let's see what's going on over here all 15:59 right I'm not answering that because 16:01 Steve you're not allowed to answer 16:02 questions so effects of CBD a so CBD can 16:05 reduce your feelings of anxiety it has 16:08 some mood modification so there's some 16:10 consideration that it may actually help 16:12 with depressive symptoms so there 16:13 definitely needs more research there but 16:15 there has been some anecdotes saying 16:17 that it helps 16:18 CBD antibody definitely causes a muscle 16:20 relaxation and even affects the way that 16:22 our pain signals transfer so you can 16:25 have some pain management or pain 16:27 support from it you will fatigue and 16:30 drowsiness and that's wanted by some 16:32 people some people need to go to sleep 16:34 at night right so they want that 16:35 that drowsiness other anti-inflammatory 16:38 components to it maybe but I think 16:40 that's something that needs a lot more 16:42 study the most important thing to 16:48 understand is that there are things that 16:49 CBD won't do and there's a lot of 16:51 outrageous claims out there so like one 16:53 of them is that CBD will cure cancer and 16:55 that's like not even a cool thing to say 16:57 cancer is a very broad range of diseases 16:59 in may CBD or medical marijuana or you 17:02 know marijuana and generally help 17:04 support the whole process but it may 17:06 help out with symptom management but 17:08 it's definitely not going to do anything 17:09 to cure cancer based on the current 17:12 evidence of that's available so it's not 17:14 gonna reverse any diseases not gonna fix 17:16 all your problems it's not gonna make 17:17 you a better person 17:18 well you were already a better person 17:20 than me but it might make me a better 17:22 person if I was a little bit less 17:23 anxious for sure so there's a lot of 17:25 promise but the Charlatans will try to 17:26 convince you that it's to use it in 17:28 unsustainable ways and that's something 17:30 that you should not be doing is using it 17:33 in a way that is not substantiated who 17:36 can use CBD well everybody adults 17:39 children teenagers cats and dogs 17:40 everybody give it to Grandma if you want 17:42 you can give it to your kids it's it's 17:45 great the dosing though will vary person 17:47 to person species to species so what an 17:49 adult needs will obviously be different 17:51 than what a child needs which will be 17:52 different than what animal needs an 17:54 interesting thing to know is that 17:55 products that are marketed towards a 17:57 single group that's just marketing so 18:00 you don't need a dog CBD versus a human 18:02 CBD that's just trying to get them you 18:05 know get you to buy a couple bottles of 18:06 the same stuff so as long as it's clean 18:09 and potent and it's dosed correctly one 18:11 CBD for the entire household is all you 18:12 need so alright where are we now 18:16 navigating CBD aka the CBD market needs 18:20 GPS so the legality of CBD is something 18:25 that always comes up and everybody's 18:26 like oh it's legal especially now the 18:28 hemp bill was just signed well no it is 18:30 not illegal the 18:32 armed bill of 2018 rate hemp and hemp 18:34 products legal but the FDA who is the 18:35 person that's responsible for regulating 18:37 supplements says absolutely not and 18:40 that's straight out of the horse's mouth 18:41 right down in the bottom there is the 18:42 press release from the bossman so if you 18:45 read that it'll very clearly tell you 18:48 that CBD as a supplement is not a legal 18:51 thing it is not legal to put CBD into 18:53 foods what they did say is that because 18:56 of the public interest and because of 18:58 the outpouring they want to have 19:01 conversations to find a pathway to make 19:04 it available to people but right now CBD 19:07 supplements are not legal there's only 19:09 one CBD product that's been approved for 19:11 use and like children for epilepsy and 19:13 any claims that they make about CBD 19:15 being able to treat or cure diseases is 19:17 a real problem so it's not legal but I 19:21 would say CB don't sweat it because it's 19:23 not like they're gonna raid anybody 19:25 there's actually an enforcement 19:26 restriction in place and they're not 19:28 going to start knocking down doors as of 19:31 right now that of course could change 19:32 tomorrow but you know I would consider 19:35 that the the batting order for the 19:36 people that are gonna have the most 19:37 problems are the the people claiming 19:39 that CBD does things that it doesn't 19:41 manufacturers some really really big 19:44 retailers and I don't even think 19:46 patients would even be on that list I've 19:48 heard of people flying with it I've 19:50 heard all these different stories I 19:52 think we're coming to a point where the 19:54 legality is still in this weird gray 19:56 area but we're moving more towards black 19:58 and white definitive with you know 20:01 responsible regulations around CBD and 20:04 making it accessible for people so the 20:06 other thing that's really important to 20:08 understand is that the products are all 20:10 over the place so we've covered a lot of 20:12 ground so far and we haven't even like 20:14 dipped our toe into the water if you 20:16 want to start CBD besides understanding 20:18 what it is where it comes from and all 20:20 the legal implications there's so much 20:22 more to know there's lots of different 20:24 options there's no standardized 20:25 strengths as I was talking with the 20:27 tylenol example I mean you can get CBD 20:29 and brownies I actually have some 20:31 downstairs is that a good thing we don't 20:33 know and because there's all these 20:35 different brands that aren't technically 20:38 required to follow any manufacturing 20:40 processes because it's a big weird legal 20:42 gray area you have a lot of non comply 20:45 and manufacturers out there so we still 20:48 have a lot of product variability that 20:49 we have to talk about so let's start 20:51 first with CBD dosage forms and you know 20:54 my subtitle and this one is because one 20:56 or two things just isn't enough we need 20:58 to have 15 different items in this 20:59 country in order for us to feel 21:01 successful so alright watch the grandma 21:04 references haha 21:05 alright so there are lots of different 21:07 ways that you can get CBD so the first 21:10 and foremost is the smoked version right 21:12 so little pen inhale it and you absorb 21:16 the CBD through your lung so you have 21:18 oral capsules or tablets 21:19 you have edibles and foods which are a 21:21 little bit different than the oral 21:23 capsules or tablets 21:24 sublingual liquids and topical 21:26 preparations so let's go through these 21:28 inhaled CPD is typically vaporized using 21:32 one of these little silly little looking 21:33 flutes here you basically the device 21:36 heats the oil to a high temperature 21:39 converts it to gas versus like lighting 21:41 it on fire inhaling all of those 21:43 wonderful things like ammonia and stuff 21:45 and burning ashes so it is a safer way 21:48 to inhale stuff but I'm still not really 21:52 for inhaling CBD it does have a very 21:55 high bioavailability so a small amount 21:56 of CBD will get into the blood at a 21:59 higher rate than oral dosage forms or 22:03 even sublingual forms that's a big 22:05 advantage and it will work a lot quicker 22:07 the problem is you're inhaling it you're 22:09 applying this stuff clean or not to the 22:12 your lungs which are a very soft 22:14 sensitive tissue dose I trations hard 22:17 right so if you were using something 22:19 like CBD for a proposed medical purpose 22:23 right for to treat something in the 22:24 future right to to help us with 22:27 something what do you do take four puffs 22:30 like is that 22:32 whole thing like I don't understand how 22:34 we can titrate the dose to make sure 22:36 you're getting just enough and not too 22:37 much the other thing is like it's 22:40 wasteful so you you put 10 milligrams 22:42 into the thing of oil and you light it 22:44 and you're gonna burn off a lot of it so 22:46 I'm not really a big fan you'll have a 22:48 higher total cost with CBD I'm sure the 22:51 cost per milligram is going to be low 22:52 but because you have to buy this pen and 22:54 have all this like gadgetry around I'm 22:56 not a big fan of inhaled CBD oral 23:00 capsules or tablets is another way to 23:02 get it as a more traditional dosing form 23:03 so basically they just put the CBD oil 23:05 into a capsule or tablet and you know if 23:09 it's a 10 milligram capsule then you can 23:11 take two capsules to get 20 milligrams 23:13 the problem with oral absorption is that 23:15 it's super erratic you're not going to 23:17 get consistent blood levels one report I 23:20 said I saw showed that the absorption is 23:23 lowest six percent which is crazy 23:25 it does need to be taken with fat so if 23:27 you decide that I do want to use a 23:28 capsule or tablet cause it's just more 23:29 my speed you should have a so somebody 23:32 will take it like a smidge of coconut 23:34 oil or like a scoop of peanut butter or 23:36 something like that just to help with 23:37 the absorption oral products will have a 23:40 slower onset of action than using other 23:42 dosage forms then the problem here is 23:44 that there could be waste right so if 15 23:47 milligrams your dose but you have 10 23:48 milligram tablets you're basically 23:49 blowing like five milligrams just out of 23:52 the water right so like you'd have to 23:54 take two tens and that would get you 20 23:57 milligrams and you blow right past the 23:58 15 milligrams that you need so I don't 24:00 like the the tablet oral dosage forms 24:02 because you're too restricted and the 24:05 intervals in which you can dose and all 24:07 oral capsules or tablets that I've seen 24:09 have had a higher cost per milligram 24:11 than other dosage forms edibles now this 24:15 is just CB dick ulis don't buy a CBD 24:19 edible there is no reason for its evils 24:22 are great for THC where you're just 24:24 trying to get high right you don't need 24:25 an exact dose you just need a fuzzy 24:27 amount right what's the likelihood that 24:29 this manufacturer of gummies is actually 24:32 taking 10% of their gummy yield and and 24:35 testing it to ensure proper mixing 24:38 they're not dude they just take a big 24:40 vat of gummy stuff and then they pour it 24:43 into mold so you could get one magic 24:45 gummy that has 24:45 all of the milligrams of CBD in it if 24:48 they didn't mix properly enough you know 24:50 that and the cost is SuperDuper high 24:53 we've seen edible CBD as high as like a 24:57 dollar per milligram we're ten cents per 25:00 milligram is is really all you need to 25:02 pay for CBD so there's a much higher 25:04 cost with the same problems of oral 25:06 dosing erratic absorption time to onset 25:09 the fat that's needed it's just not an 25:11 idea so here's here's another CB don't 25:13 don't bother with CBD edibles it's it's 25:15 kind of silly I'm drying up we need a 25:18 humidifier up here sublingual liquids 25:21 this is my favorite and there's a lot of 25:24 different reasons for that it's 25:26 typically in oil and it can be on any 25:28 base so if you take the CBD out of a 25:30 hemp plant you can put it back in hemp 25:32 oil and then you have like a pretty kind 25:34 of like well-put-together product you 25:36 can put in coconut oil one of our 25:38 products done in that I mean you can put 25:39 it in any kind of oil you can put it and 25:41 anything that somebody would want to 25:43 ingest that's an oil base for sure the 25:45 thing I like the most about it is that 25:47 you can really get into the minutiae of 25:51 the dosing you can really 25:52 titrate those doses right down to the 25:55 specific milligram or even half 25:56 milligram dose when we have our patients 25:59 that are pets right they need one 26:02 milligram per ten pounds so if you need 26:05 to give it an animal one-and-a-half 26:07 milligrams of CBD you can very easily do 26:09 that with the right concentration with 26:12 an oil the problem is that it kind of 26:16 tastes a little bit like grass if you 26:17 especially for using hemp as a base and 26:19 the drops versus the MLS that's a big 26:22 thing like if if concentrations are 26:26 regarded as a dose per milliliter and 26:28 you have a dropper and a droppers this 26:31 unspecific volume of water like what 26:34 does it drop if you actually try to 26:36 figure out what a drop is it'll be based 26:38 on the size of the dropper and like the 26:39 the width of the hole at the bottom at 26:41 the dropper so I tell people to use 26:43 stuff like oral syringes 26:45 those are like oral syringes the problem 26:47 is is that the oral syringes they have 26:49 their own liabilities it's kind of messy 26:51 it's tough to pull it up but this is a 26:53 way to use the liquid and then get 26:56 consistent dosing the other thing that 26:57 that's crazy with CBD that's 26:59 or a liquid is that the math is even 27:01 more complicated so you definitely need 27:03 some help with that there is a huge 27:06 benefit in the cost CBD is an expensive 27:08 experiment for a lot of people with 27:11 starting bottles for most adults being 27:13 between forty and eighty dollars that is 27:16 a big investment for a lot of people so 27:18 you want to find the best value and you 27:21 will find the best value I've I've found 27:23 with liquid oils topical CBD this is 27:26 something that's kind of interesting 27:28 right so what if I can take the CBD and 27:30 rub it on the painful area or rub it on 27:33 an inflamed area can I can I take CBD 27:35 rub it in and will it help my joints 27:37 that's a lot of questions that I don't 27:39 know if we have answers for what I do 27:41 know about transdermal absorption of 27:43 drugs is that the dosing needs to be 27:45 consistent so the it doesn't go from 27:47 outside your body to right into the 27:49 bloodstream 27:49 it actually like sits and and kind of 27:51 accumulates in the skin a little bit and 27:54 then that is what you know you know 27:56 drips into the the bloodstream so you 27:59 need consistent dosing at least twice a 28:01 day in order for the CBD to kind of 28:04 build up to a good level one of the 28:06 things that you have to understand is 28:08 that in order for something to get 28:10 through the skin you have to put 28:11 penetration agents in and a lot of CBD 28:13 products I've looked at don't really 28:14 have that so it's just pointman or a 28:17 cream and CBD so it's not really pushing 28:20 it into the skin and another dirty trick 28:22 is they will put in a CBD pointment 28:26 they'll put in like menthol and they'll 28:28 put in camphor or they'll put in arnica 28:31 though so they'll put in things to a CBD 28:32 product that actually helps with pain 28:35 right that's been proven that's been 28:36 used forever so is it the CBD that's 28:39 doing it or is all is that those other 28:41 ingredients and there's an obvious 28:43 reason that they're doing it because a 28:44 lot of times CBD topically won't really 28:46 work for people right away so by putting 28:50 those other things in there then you're 28:51 kind of guaranteeing that people be like 28:53 oh wow this $50 CBD cream worked really 28:56 well for me so if you are going to use 28:58 the CBD topical make sure that you're 29:00 getting just CBD with a you know a 29:02 sophisticated base but know that you're 29:04 gonna pay more and it's going to be 29:05 really inconsistent dosing how do you 29:07 there's like two globs of CBD a day is 29:10 that is that what you're using just a 29:12 little note I also 29:13 have told people to take the CBD oil and 29:17 just do a consistent number of drops 5 29:19 to 10 drops on surface of the skin and 29:21 massage it in because what's an oil but 29:24 a liquid version of Weightman right so 29:26 you can use topical you can use oral 29:29 stuff topically which is really cool so 29:32 boop-boop-boop all right let's keep 29:34 going my recommendation here is to use 29:37 sublingual oils it is the lowest cost 29:39 for CBD milligram of CBD it has the 29:42 optimal dose hydration because remember 29:44 we want to make sure that we're using as 29:46 little as possible it'll have the fewest 29:48 absorb variables for absorption so 29:50 you're putting this onto your tongue 29:51 you're gonna let it sit for a couple of 29:53 minutes and basically 30 minutes to an 29:56 hour and a half you'll notice an effect 29:58 which is really good 29:59 most people will see stuff around 40 30:01 minutes or so and you'll have a very 30:04 consistent effect the more that you 30:07 swallow the less that's going to get 30:10 absorbed so I think it's just your 30:12 tongue never use edibles that's silly 30:15 and just be careful with topicals if 30:17 you're going to do it so CB do look to 30:20 sublingual oils for the best value CBD 30:24 by the numbers time to get good at math 30:26 which is very difficult for a lot of 30:28 people this is something that I like to 30:31 go over with everybody because the the 30:33 words are used incorrectly so let's get 30:35 on the same page about that a dose is 30:38 how much you take right so I take 500 30:42 milligrams of Tylenol for my headache my 30:45 wife might take a thousand milligrams 30:46 and that's the dose that works for her 30:48 so the dose is the amount usually in 30:50 milligrams of a compound that gives the 30:53 desired effect the strength which is 30:56 also known as a concentration is the the 30:59 thing it's the product so it's how much 31:01 active ingredient is in a certain unit 31:03 of that product so back to the tylenol 31:06 example 500 milligrams per tablet if it 31:09 was the liquid it might be 500 31:11 milligrams per teaspoon so with liquid 31:14 CBDs it might be 25 milligrams per ml 31:17 right so that's the strength 31:21 there's this craziness with the package 31:24 sighs so how many dosing units are in 31:25 the container while you look at that 31:27 bottle of Tylenol and says 24 it says 31:29 100 you know that there's 24 500 31:31 milligram tablets in there and CBD land 31:33 all of this stuff is a big mishmash so 31:36 dough strength and package size are put 31:38 on the packages and nobody knows what's 31:40 what so let's go over that so looking at 31:42 this little bottle here you see and I'm 31:45 gonna focus on the bottle the red circle 31:47 there hemp oil 500 right so people say 31:50 oh I take the 500 or I've been on the 31:52 750 I got CBD oil well that is not 31:57 telling you how strong it is that's 31:59 telling you how many milligrams total 32:01 are in there so it's more representative 32:03 of the package size the strength of a 32:06 cannabis product is not not the number 32:09 on the front this represents the total 32:11 amount of CBD in the entire bottle read 32:15 that bottom line I'm gonna say to the 32:16 camera doing it this way is crazy 32:20 dumb and confusing so putting that out 32:23 there the 500 milligrams in the total 32:25 package it's like saying well this 32:27 tylenol bottle has 50 grams of Tylenol 32:29 and there's a hundred tablets you figure 32:30 it out right that's a pretty 32:32 irresponsible way for us to do this 32:34 whole thing 32:34 çb don't confuse the number on the front 32:37 of a CBD product for the strength oh 32:40 let's get into brownies I know I said 32:42 edibles aren't the way to go but let's 32:43 let's let's use brownies because they're 32:45 easy to understand and it might make 32:47 your you know your mouth ward a little 32:49 bit let's assume that we bought this CBD 32:51 brownie and it was labeled 240 32:53 milligrams on the front right it doesn't 32:55 mean that each piece is 240 milligrams 32:57 right because we'd want to eat one piece 32:59 to get the dose but it means that the 33:01 whole set is 240 milligrams so if each 33:04 unit is one of these squares and they're 33:06 six squares that means that the strength 33:08 is 40 milligrams per brownie square 33:12 right so it's not 240 per square it's 40 33:16 milligrams six times 440 C B do look at 33:20 the amount per unit to determine the 33:23 strength this is an important thing 33:24 don't look at the front of the bottle 33:26 turn it around and look at the 33:27 supplement facts panel that'll give you 33:29 a better understanding of what you're 33:31 supposed to use your CBD 33:33 is a consistent number that you respond 33:37 to it has nothing to do with your 33:38 product this is an important 33:40 conversation because when people start 33:42 asking about CBD and I start talking to 33:44 them about it the first thing they want 33:45 to know is well how much do I have to 33:47 take to get the dose and that's 33:49 irrelevant what matters most is how much 33:51 you need to get the effect and that's 33:53 the number that you should always commit 33:55 to memory so always commit to memory 33:57 that I respond to 10 milligrams of CBD 33:59 so and it won't matter what product you 34:01 have right so let's use this as another 34:03 example what if your dose was 40 34:05 milligrams right well if I have 40 34:07 milligrams as the dose that works for me 34:09 within this situation I can take off one 34:11 of these squares of the brownie and I 34:13 can get the results that I'm looking for 34:14 but what if my dose was 10 milligrams 34:16 and all I have is a 40 milligram brownie 34:19 well I'd have to cut it evenly into a 34:21 1/4 and take 1/4 of a piece to get that 34:25 10 milligrams right this is complicated 34:28 right you need to have somebody help you 34:31 with this whole process and the only 34:33 reason that we need this is because of 34:35 all the silly crazy ways that this stuff 34:39 is done and there's no like good 34:41 regulations about this so I always say 34:44 that you know it's it's ok to just say 34:48 well I don't know you tell me what to do 34:50 but what I really really want from you 34:52 is to understand these things and how 34:55 these things play out so that way you 34:57 can take more ownership and more control 34:58 of this situation because you know you 35:01 you really want to be in a place where 35:03 you're making more informed decisions 35:04 around CBD and not just going with the 35:06 flow here so just to review the doses 35:09 how much you take usually in milligrams 35:11 the strength is how much active 35:13 ingredient in a certain unit so you know 35:15 40 milligrams per brownie piece right 35:17 it's the concentration and the package 35:19 size in the world of CBD is that big 35:21 number on the front so that's how many 35:23 doses so if you got a 500 milligram CBD 35:26 and your dose that you take that works 35:28 for you is 10 milligrams that means that 35:31 you'll have 50 doses in that 500 35:33 milligram package and that's all it's 35:35 telling it was just how many doses 35:36 you'll have dosing ranges are extremely 35:41 wide right so if we're going down this 35:43 path okay so what dose do I use we have 35:46 to understand that there 35:47 really no established guidelines we just 35:50 have a few little bits here and there of 35:53 dosas that will work for people as low 35:56 as one milligram 35:57 all the way up to 30 milligrams per 35:58 kilogram and beyond so for me I know I 36:01 got to lose weight I've talked about it 36:02 before that's 3,000 milligrams of CBD a 36:05 day that's $200 of CBD every single day 36:08 that I would have to take if I needed 36:10 that high of a dose so you can see that 36:12 that range you could drive a truck 36:13 through so you know what is going to you 36:17 is probably going to be much much less 36:18 but you have to understand that the 36:22 evidence has shown that not everybody 36:24 will respond to low doses they will need 36:26 higher and high some people will need 36:27 higher and higher doses of CBD in order 36:30 for it to be beneficial this is a little 36:33 graphic that I've made up for used to 36:37 make it a little bit easier for people 36:39 to understand so if you look at this as 36:42 a scale hi Missy good to see you 36:45 if you look at this as a scale on the 36:47 far left side we have low doses all the 36:50 way up to super insane high doses and 36:52 what this is telling you is that 36:53 basically if you're using CBD for the 36:56 it's anxiety support features you're 36:58 gonna be using it at low to middle doses 37:01 right most people are responding for 37:03 that stuff and the low range again I've 37:05 had people take super and say no high 37:07 doses of it and nothing happens right 37:09 but this is just a generalization for 37:12 sleep support same thing it's gonna be 37:14 lower doses and you're kind of get into 37:16 the high range if you're looking to help 37:18 out with pain CBD doses are very varied 37:22 and up into these crazy doses most of 37:25 the trials around pain management with 37:27 CBD and marijuana shows that the doses 37:29 need to be high and especially the stuff 37:31 with the epilepsy and children if that's 37:34 the thirty milligrams per kilogram 37:36 dosing which is this huge huge number so 37:39 know that the dosing ranges are super 37:41 duper high now do you start out taking 37:43 CBD and the super insane level no that 37:46 doesn't make any sense so we have to 37:47 have a better strategy for approaching 37:49 CBD let me keep moving because we're 37:52 getting time so you know the first time 37:55 should be special if you've never used 37:57 marijuana or CBD products before you're 37:58 going to respond differently so light a 38:00 candle get back 38:01 going right we don't know how you're 38:03 gonna react so we want to see if this 38:05 will work especially if you're 38:07 inexperienced now that was a good joke I 38:09 don't care who you are 38:10 so the strategy that you're going to 38:12 implement when you're using CBD is to 38:14 start low go slow but go thank you 38:21 we want the lowest effective dose when 38:23 we're using any medication any product 38:26 right so we want to use the absolute 38:29 lowest when we're using drug therapy 38:31 when we're using supplements when we're 38:34 talking about our food we want the 38:35 lowest effective amount and the two 38:37 reasons why is to minimize the side 38:39 effects most importantly for me is to 38:42 keep the cost down I want I want you did 38:44 not have to spend a million bucks on CBD 38:45 so if you don't listen to me for example 38:48 and slowly increase your dose over time 38:50 to creep up to the dose that works for 38:52 you and you blow right past and you take 38:55 a hundred milligrams in your first dose 38:56 great it relieves your pain or does 38:59 whatever it is that you were looking for 39:01 it to do right but what if 50 milligrams 39:04 gave you that same level of pain relief 39:06 well now you've just wasted half of the 39:08 dose but you'll continue to use the 100 39:10 because that's what you responded to so 39:12 the strategy has to be start low so the 39:14 starting dose is for most adults are 39:16 around 5 milligrams and at bedtime 39:19 should be around 10 milligrams 39:22 I personally respond to 5 milligrams 39:24 pretty well right our product that we 39:27 sell to that we give to most people it 39:30 ends up being like 6 milligrams so again 39:32 it's just approximate so 5 milligrams in 39:34 that range is where most people should 39:36 start if they want to start on the dose 39:38 of CBD now again most people will need 39:41 more than just five milligrams that's 39:43 just where we start without overdoing it 39:45 kids it's going to be tough some older 39:48 kids probably 5 milligrams but mostly 39:51 less for younger kids but that's where 39:52 you would want to speak to an expert and 39:54 pets the current data a literature 39:58 advise says approximately one milligram 40:00 of CBD for every 10 pounds at your cat 40:03 or dog weighs so the big dogs need big 40:05 doses and the range for for pets goes 40:09 from 1 to 6 milligrams per 10 pounds for 40:11 most conditions so 40:14 boop-boop-boop-boop any Susan Alexander 40:19 just asked about with the CBD carriers 40:21 such as glycerin and ethylene glycol are 40:22 they bad to inhale that's a great 40:24 question I want to actually answer that 40:26 right now the that's why I don't like 40:29 vaping right so this whole like vaping 40:31 trend the stuff that goes into vape pens 40:34 and to vape liquids is the same stuff I 40:39 used to put in my fog machine when I was 40:40 a DJ when I was 19 right so it's the 40:42 same exact stuff and they had big 40:45 warnings on there that said do you not 40:47 directly inhale except now these young 40:49 kids are just piping the stuff into 40:50 their lungs and bringing it back out so 40:52 my personal opinion again is I don't 40:54 like inhaled CBD because of the exposure 40:57 to this other stuff I don't think it's 41:00 good for people to be exposing their 41:03 lungs to high doses a polyethylene 41:05 glycol and such so back to dosing CBD 41:09 dosing is trial and error so you start 41:11 out with your first dose you wait 30 to 41:13 90 minutes did anything happen if so 41:16 you're a cheap date congratulations 41:18 because you're just like me I can get 41:20 away with a very low cost and I get the 41:24 results that I want if not you need the 41:26 next part of the dosing strategy which 41:28 is to go slow so increased by five or 41:31 ten milligrams ends and you can 41:34 literally do that the next time you dose 41:36 but go we want to make sure that you 41:38 start at a low dose you increase and you 41:41 you increase aggressively so don't wait 41:43 and take the same dose for four times 41:45 some people may have heard me use this 41:47 this little anecdote the story of a 41:49 customer that was using it in their 41:51 father at a nursing home and they were 41:53 doing the same exact dose every day for 41:55 14 days and it didn't work and then she 41:57 said well after 14 days it started to 41:58 work I said well what changed and she 42:01 said well we doubled the dose okay when 42:03 I said well you could have done that 42:04 literally on day 2 and you would have 42:06 gotten the same results as as that so 42:08 don't waste your time with that same 42:10 dose increase as much as your body 42:12 allows so so it can be used up to four 42:16 times a day and Duncan I'm actually 42:18 going to answer that question pretty 42:19 soon so I will hold that so with liquids 42:23 if there's a big problem coming with the 42:26 dose and this is something that we can 42:27 kind of get into 42:28 more detail at some other point but 42:30 basically how do you get this dropper in 42:34 your mouth and get the right dose so 42:36 it's tough I recommend the oral syringes 42:40 or the brand that we carry has a 42:42 calibrated dropper so you can get your 42:44 hands on a calibrated dropper that shows 42:45 you like what a quarter ml half ml 3/4 42:48 full ml is on a dropper then you're 42:50 gonna have much better results and it's 42:51 gonna be much easier to use so CBD CB 42:56 don't confuse drops for your dose so one 43:00 of the things I always hear is oh I take 43:02 five drops of CBD that's like taking a 43:04 saying I take six capsules of lipitor 43:06 what does that even mean like how much 43:07 how many milligrams do you take right so 43:11 use the calibrated dosing tools when you 43:13 can so alright so I will answer Duncan's 43:17 questions so like how long does the 43:19 effect last so essentially what happens 43:21 is you need to establish what dose helps 43:26 you and then you need to figure out how 43:28 long that effect lasts so from my 43:31 feedback that I've gotten for people 43:33 somebody was using it for some joint 43:35 stiffness right I want to try it for 43:37 joint stiffness so take a dose before 43:39 bed and I said you can probably need to 43:42 use it up to four times a day for that 43:43 and they said well actually that bedtime 43:47 dose last me until two o'clock in the 43:49 afternoon the next day so for that 43:51 person he only needs to dose twice a day 43:54 two o'clock and bedtime some people need 43:57 to dose four times a day so it's really 43:59 about finding what dose works for you 44:00 and how long that dose lasts that's an 44:03 important thing finding a good brand 44:06 needle meet haystack there are lots of 44:10 problems with CBD products I've met and 44:13 spoke to too many owners of CBD brands 44:16 and let me tell you they are living out 44:20 the stereotypical Cheech and Chong I'm 44:23 gonna open a weed business right as this 44:26 industry matures I'm sure we're gonna 44:29 see more business people getting in that 44:31 understand all of the implications and 44:33 quality controls and stuff like that but 44:35 right now you just you just have these 44:37 random people that are involved hemp in 44:40 particular because it's a plan 44:42 has a unique set of contaminants right 44:45 so if you think about it there's stuff 44:47 that we spray on the plant that we have 44:49 to worry about pesticides and herbicides 44:51 the soil that it's in will cause the 44:54 hemp to pull well well the the hemp will 44:58 pull up any of the grow stuff that's in 45:00 the soil and particularly heavily heavy 45:02 metals are a problem like lead arsenic 45:04 and Mercury hemp in particular is a 45:08 hyper accumulator which means it earns 45:11 its name weed right it's pulling up 45:13 everything from the environment pretty 45:14 and non-discriminatory careful of the 45:18 the farming environment that the hemp is 45:21 is raised in on top of this we have to 45:24 be concerned about what methods are you 45:27 using to extract out the CBD from the 45:30 hemp you are using industrial solvents 45:33 that are potentially carcinogenic like 45:35 curse antigenic like hexane or are using 45:38 something like supercritical extraction 45:39 which is just carbon dioxide or even 45:41 some grain alcohol or something like 45:42 that there are effective cheap dangerous 45:46 ways and there are effective a little 45:48 bit less effective safe environmentally 45:51 beneficial ways so all of these are 45:54 concerns but a lot of people aren't 45:55 really thinking about it it's gonna be 45:57 near impossible for any consumer to have 46:00 enough information to determine if a 46:02 brand is truly high-quality it's tough 46:04 for me I tell people all the time we 46:06 have moved to private labeling or 46:09 contract manufacturers of our 46:11 manufacturing of our own products 46:12 Woodstock vitamins stuff because they're 46:15 legally required to give me all of the 46:16 quality data whereas other brands I'd 46:19 have to just trust that they're gonna be 46:20 a little transparent and as time goes on 46:22 they're becoming less and less 46:23 transparent so imagine CBD companies run 46:26 by you know some O's and like you know 46:29 they don't even know what to look at 46:30 they're not gonna be sharing that so 46:33 transparencies key is the brand you know 46:35 posting their test results frequently if 46:38 they're sharing are they testing 46:39 correctly are they sharing often so I've 46:41 got a couple examples about pesticides 46:43 which is very interesting so I go to a 46:44 CBD site they're like oh we share all of 46:47 our quality data right on the site and 46:48 they had a pesticide test and it listed 46:50 three stupid pesticides of the 35 or 40 46:54 that you need to look 46:55 right so so while yes they're testing 46:58 for pesticides they're not testing 46:59 enough the next problem that you have to 47:02 think about is how often are they 47:04 testing so a lot of botanical companies 47:07 will test a new contract manufacturer 47:09 the first three or four times that they 47:11 use product for pesticides and 47:13 herbicides but once four tests come back 47:15 positive they'll just randomly test 47:17 after that I don't think that's good 47:19 enough I think that they should be 47:20 testing every single time because who 47:21 the heck knows what's happening and in 47:23 fact we switched one brand from being 47:25 excellent to good just because of that 47:27 they stopped testing as frequently as 47:29 every lot and the new brand that we 47:31 brought and we convinced them that they 47:32 should be testing every single lot so 47:34 that's an important and important thing 47:36 to know is that I'm a pit bull and I 47:38 can't even get the information I need so 47:40 it's gonna be really tough for consumers 47:41 to be able to get this information but 47:44 an easy way to check is to look at cost 47:46 now cost isn't related to quality at all 47:49 in the natural products industry you can 47:50 have a fifty dollar supplement that you 47:52 know is garbage you know and you can 47:54 have a twelve dollar supplement that has 47:56 just tremendous value but in CBD world 47:59 if you look at the cost per milligram 48:00 that's a great indicator of value so I'm 48:04 all the brands that I've looked at I 48:05 found prices from good to excellent 48:07 we're like all over the place right so 48:09 we had really high quality stuff and and 48:12 we had ridiculously high prices and 48:14 super low good value prices so when you 48:17 plot them all out I found 10 cents per 48:19 milligram is the best value of CBD this 48:23 this is where you actually use that 48:25 stupid number in the front of the bottle 48:26 the the 500 milligrams of the 1500 48:29 milligrams you take the total cost of 48:31 the CBD product and divide it by the 48:33 amount of CBD in there and that'll give 48:35 you the cost per milligram it may seem 48:37 like well Neel saying 10 cents is okay 48:40 well this product was 12 cents so that's 48:42 a small difference well no that's a 20 48:44 percent increase we've seen stuff as 48:46 high as 90 cents per milligram the local 48:48 dispensary was charging that much it's 48:50 expensive for a weed license so I'd 48:51 imagine that's where they're trying to 48:52 make their money back but that's insane 48:54 when you can get a high quality product 48:56 for less than 10 cents topical products 48:59 oral doses and edibles will have a very 49:02 high cost per milligram compared to oils 49:05 I just got a question about the 49:06 shelf-life so most of these are good out 49:08 like 1/2 49:09 two years the expiration testing on most 49:13 of them that I've seen have been two 49:15 years so they should be good like that 49:18 the oils won't go rancid as long as they 49:20 put the proper antioxidants and such in 49:23 there so you know that's the big thing 49:25 is that when you put a chemical compound 49:27 in oil it's not going to degrade like it 49:30 would in water what's going to happen is 49:32 the oil is gonna go rancid so after you 49:35 know a year or two especially in you 49:37 know home storage conditions you're it's 49:40 just gonna get a little skanky a little 49:42 bit so you just want to make sure that 49:43 you're using fresh stuff it's time to go 49:48 over what we learned here people okay 49:51 stop talking Neil so CBD from white belt 49:55 to green belt so I wanted to revisit a 49:57 bunch of concepts to you know 49:59 reintroduce this stuff I think it's 50:00 super important CBD has tremendous 50:02 potential more research is definitely 50:04 needed the clear cut regulations have to 50:07 be put in place 50:08 putting the consumer first not these 50:09 mega corporations that are just trying 50:11 to screw us all over and we have to have 50:13 a modern progressive mindset like the 50:15 thing that makes me most nervous about 50:16 the FDA statement is like it's not 50:18 really a supplement and it needs to you 50:20 know go through a whole new drug process 50:22 and it's you know get over yourself 50:24 let's let's look at it as a supplement 50:26 because it's been around forever and 50:28 their only reason that it doesn't have 50:29 the status of all the old stuff is 50:32 because we've been prohibiting it for 50:34 way too long for stupid political 50:36 reasons so I really think CBD should be 50:38 a supplement that people use so I hope 50:41 the FDA you know kind of wakes up to 50:43 that understanding the nuances of CBD 50:45 including the strength dose package size 50:47 and dosage forms a super critical to 50:49 make helping you make a better 50:50 cost-effective decisions if you choose 50:52 to start CBD you start low at five to 50:55 ten milligrams and increase using trial 50:57 and error going slow and so that works 51:01 so go my final thought this comes up a 51:06 lot don't treat your medical care 51:08 especially CBD like you would choosing a 51:11 restaurant while you're on vacation 51:13 right this happens all the time I 51:17 understand what you're saying you know 51:19 but what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna go 51:20 read a few blogs I'm gonna look at 51:22 reviews 51:22 I'm gonna go on some forums that's no 51:25 way to make health decisions right so if 51:27 you if you're going to Patagonia and you 51:29 want to know like what is a good 51:31 excursion to do yeah use your use your 51:34 review sites but if you have allergies 51:36 or if you're looking for some sort of 51:38 medical treatment a random stuff on the 51:41 internet is really not a good way to 51:42 validate what you want to do so defer to 51:47 the experts and the professionals as 51:49 always my brain comes free with every 51:51 product so you'll never be on your own 51:53 if you need help from us I wanted to say 51:57 thank you to let's so here thanks Kevin appreciate 53:26 that char you're the best 53:28 right any questions yes another bus 53:31 shirt that's funny let's do this won't 53:35 you 53:38 when effective how long is the effect we 53:40 answered that side effects drug 53:43 interactions and yada yada yada from 53:46 Selma hi Selma 53:48 so side effects of CBD will be related 53:51 to what it already does which is 53:54 sedating it is drowsiness some people 53:59 might have some confusion associated 54:02 with it right Steve I took a little bit 54:05 too much CBD before a conversation with 54:08 an employee the other day and it was it 54:11 was interesting I got a little bit too 54:13 much I think I overdosed by about 5x but 54:17 yes drug interactions are a real thing 54:19 and it's something that we have to be 54:20 concerned of the literature that I've 54:22 seen around drug interactions the case 54:25 studies show that it will have drug 54:28 interactions but it's in that super 54:30 intense silly high dose range so like 30 54:33 milligrams per kilogram a day which a 54:35 lot of people won't get to and Anik you 54:36 know looking back through history people 54:38 have been smoking pot and taking their 54:40 prescription drugs for a long time 54:41 without concerns of drug interactions so 54:44 I really feel like when we have more 54:46 data we can conclusively say that drug 54:48 interactions are a factor of high doses 54:50 but I would still use caution when 54:53 you're using CBD if you take medications 54:55 CBD will interact with a ton of drugs 54:58 because it's affecting the same enzymes 55:01 in our liver that and our gut that are 55:03 metabolizing everything that's important 55:06 so you know stuff like warfarin and 55:08 statin drugs and stuff like that so 55:10 let's see okay so this is a great 55:15 question how does the quality available 55:16 with a medical marijuana prescription 55:18 compare to what we sell so if it's done 55:20 right it would be the same so CBD at a 55:23 dispensary versus CBD here will be the 55:25 same the only difference that I've seen 55:28 is the cost the cost at a dispensary is 55:31 always like through the roof compared to 55:33 what we can do and there is no 55:34 difference in quality one of the things 55:37 that comes up is yeah so right Charlene 55:41 the best uses are pain or anxiety - 55:44 chills that's what people are using it 55:45 for it to kind of take that edge off 55:46 right they wanna you know take that that 55:49 little 55:50 bad off I'm gonna do this I'm gonna send 55:52 real quick I'm just gonna send everybody 55:54 a link to the products so here's how it 55:57 works 55:57 the we put the products on our site but 56:01 we didn't put any indication that their 56:04 CBD products because of that legal gray 56:06 area so they're only going to be there 56:07 for a little bit so I'm going to put the 56:10 link to the product page if you are 56:13 interested in and seeing what we have 56:15 and I will do with stock vitamins 56:23 concepts collection slash CBD webinar 56:27 2019 I think let me just see if this is 56:29 what does it I think I just forgot the 56:31 silly wait alright let me try it again 56:38 I'm new to this this is actually good 56:40 that it works I'm surprised we had music 56:42 before we had pictures of my children 56:44 how cool is that 56:56 I'm not even gonna be able to push this 56:58 out so anyway anyway you can just uh 57:00 whatever check the email it'll have all 57:03 that stuff there 57:06 alright so Boop there will be a link you 57:11 can see this again we're gonna put it up 57:13 in the future thank you for coming 57:15 everybody we appreciate it and Kristin 57:18 thank you for the compliment does your 57:21 body need more and more CBD over time 57:23 does it become less effective over time 57:25 would it need to be increased that's a 57:26 great question the big question mark 57:28 there I would assume that there's some 57:29 level of tolerance that builds up to any 57:31 of these products I'm also assuming that 57:35 the doses needed to cause tolerance are 57:37 going to be outside the range that most 57:40 people will be so again we're on the on 57:44 the lower side is what most casual users 57:46 are using it for so I think at that 57:49 point there's not going to be a lot of 57:50 accumulation but we still need all of 57:52 that data we need the pharmacokinetic 57:54 data to know how our bodies handle CBDs 57:57 so we can make these decisions more 58:01 wisely so if use it for sleep support 58:04 are you drowsy in the next morning Mike 58:07 great question one of the reasons that 58:08 I've switched almost entirely from 58:10 recommending any of the other 58:12 traditional botanicals to CBD is because 58:15 of the stuff I highlighted about it 58:17 being very predictable we know exactly 58:20 when it'll start to work we know how 58:22 easily how to track the quality stuff 58:24 and the biggest thing is that you don't 58:27 have those liabilities of the 58:29 traditional botanicals like valerian and 58:31 holy basil and all of these different 58:33 things right so we we like CBD because 58:36 if you you know if you wake up in the 58:38 middle of the night and your mind's 58:40 racing and you want to you know try a 58:41 dose of CBD this is the feedback that 58:43 I've gotten is that you can do a small 58:45 dose of it and it doesn't leave that 58:47 hangover or fuzzy foggy feeling the next 58:49 day which is super duper cool so there's 58:53 a note about peak 58:55 PTSD gets in the realm of where THC will 58:58 will succeed if we're talking about just 58:59 like anxiety and maybe some depressive 59:02 symptoms the literature's current 59:04 currently pointing towards CBD having a 59:06 great role there but if you have like 59:08 traumatic experiences it seems that the 59:10 the CBD the THC is the the better one so 59:13 you'll want a combo what about drug 59:15 testing you need more CBD if you take 59:17 one without stage say okay so this is a 59:19 good question 59:19 so will the point three percent THC 59:22 found in a lot of CBD products show up 59:24 on drug testing if you're nervous about 59:26 drug testing just get a CBD that has 59:28 zero THC which we have those those are 59:31 the ones that are in coconut oil if 59:33 you're if you end up on the site and the 59:36 the CBD THC thing is a big question mark 59:39 we know that THC will have some sort of 59:42 amplifying effect on the CBD right so 59:45 they work synergistically together the 59:47 THC will make the CBD receptors work 59:50 better is like what the preliminary 59:52 stuff says but we don't know how much 59:53 that is or like if that caps up so you I 59:57 am waiting for us to get the the data 60:00 that says yes this is exactly the amount 60:02 of THC that's needed to make this dose 60:04 of CBD more effective until then and 60:07 again for the conditions that we're 60:09 talking about the things that we're 60:10 talking about it's super low dosing so 60:11 probably CBD by itself is fine 60:13 can it be useful for arthritis that's a 60:16 good question I think the feedback that 60:19 I've gotten from people is that it can 60:22 be when I was looking up CB the first 60:26 time it it works on the Mew and Delta 60:28 opioid receptors so those are signaling 60:31 pathways that opioids use so there is 60:33 some pain mitigation arthritis and you 60:37 know the the big thing to know here is 60:38 that I'm not going to be recommending 60:41 CBD as first-line for anybody so if 60:44 somebody that has arthritis it's going 60:46 to be a less inflammatory foods eat 60:48 anti-inflammatory foods exercise do lots 60:51 of stretching you know working the 60:53 wellness pyramid use omega-3 fatty acids 60:56 use a good dose of collagen and then 60:58 once you've done all that check off all 61:00 those boxes then adding in that next 61:02 level adding in that CBD for for relief 61:05 is where we would go some people want to 61:07 skip directly to go to get some relief 61:09 so they can do all that stuff and that's 61:10 great too so all of that is a good 61:13 option so you're welcome is he good to 61:16 see you and Jenny Casey Jenny thank you 61:19 appreciate it 61:20 interesting information I got a question 61:22 on the question tab CBD and gabapentin 61:25 will they interact I am assuming that 61:28 there will be no drug interactions at 61:30 the levels that we would be using them 61:33 in I don't believe that gabapentin is 61:35 metabolized along those same pathways 61:36 I'd have to look it up but I will go 61:39 with my standby that the drug 61:41 interactions are only happening at the 61:42 mega doses and CBD and Lyme disease 61:45 treatment Steve that's a good question 61:47 so Lyme disease especially 61:50 post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome is 61:52 a painful process 61:53 so using CBD may be beneficial 61:57 especially if there's any anxiety 61:58 related symptoms the same kind of thing 62:02 the achiness that the pains the the 62:04 muscle tension all of that stuff may may 62:07 have limes may help out with that 62:11 post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome so 62:12 that is that all right so I'm done if 62:16 you guys don't have any questions I 62:18 think I'll take off and then we will do 62:20 this again answer the survey tell me 62:22 what you want me to talk about next I 62:24 really like doing this webinar thing 62:25 this is cool I've never had 60 people in 62:27 a class I've only had classes of like 62:28 eight so it's pretty cool and thank you 62:31 again any questions coming in at the 62:33 last minute could you could could you 62:35 take the oil under the tongue cause a 62:37 sore throat I don't think so it 62:39 shouldn't be that big of an irritant in 62:41 fact if anything hampel has like 62:43 anti-inflammatory compounds in it you 62:46 know it's one of those oils that has 62:47 lots of like a you know healthy fats so 62:51 I would think that it wouldn't be a 62:53 problem so all right everybody I'm out 62:56 and thank you very much for joining me 62:59 and we will talk to you sometime soon
